The UK National Street Rod Association

The NSRA is the UK's premier Hot Rod Association for pre 1972 Hot Rods, Street Rods, and Customs.

Celebrating 40 years of hot rodding in 2012! Originally formed in 1972, the NSRA is the club of choice for UK rodding enthusiasts. As well as being the National organisation for hotrodders, each year the NSRA organises two of the UK's largest hot rod show weekends, plus two major auto parts swapmeets, and in conjunction with Shakespeare County Raceway, two nostalgia drag racing event weekends. The NSRA also supports European rodding events, as a member of the European Street Rod Association.

Our type of car and 'The spirit of Rodding'

Our type of car has its roots in a particular American style of modifying and customising. A style that goes back to the original hot rods, built and raced on the street, the drag strip, and the salt flats, since before World War II.

Many of the things that define the look of a hot rod - removal of fenders, taller rubber on the back, roof chops, louvres - are not merely styling exercises; they all stemmed from the original rodders' desire for less weight, lower frontal area, less drag, and better gearing.

Hot rodding has since developed in many different directions, from the simple hot rod of the forties, through the customs and wild show cars of the sixties, to the high-tech street rods, pro-street cars and top fuel dragsters of today.

NSRA Membership

NSRA membership is open to anyone with an interest in Rods & Customs, whether or not you currently own one. Although the club's name includes the words 'Street Rod' the UK NSRA is different from most other Street Rod Associations; membership and participation is not restricted to pre '49 vehicles.

NSRA Members enjoy discounted entry to NSRA events, specialised insurance, supplier discounts, full access to the NSRA's on-line Forum, and of course the members' bi-monthly 'Gasser' magazine.

You can download a pdf membership application form here or join on-line here.

The NSRA Forum

The NSRA Forum is an on-line meeting place for rodders.

By registering on the Forum you can take part in rodding discussion, swap technical advice, follow the latest news and car builds, buy and sell cars and parts, find out about upcoming events, and much more.

After running for some years as 'open to all', the Forum has now shifted its focus to cater for NSRA Members, although non-members still can take part in a more limited fashion.

Anyone can view the forum, by clicking the 'NSRA Forum' link above. But to take part, and post your own messages, you need to be registered .. all you need to do is run through this simple registration process to get started. If you haven't used a forum before, don't worry, you can't break anything!

The NSRA Forum currently has over 700 NSRA members registered - come on in and join us!

The NSRA supports the work of ACE

The purpose of the Association of Car Enthusiasts (ACE) website is to provide a platform where all vehicle based legislative issues can be readily accessed, and to provide a rallying point for all interested parties.
