I am going to change the gearbox and axle oil on my 46', I think thirty odd years at least it could do with a change. I have spoken to a couple of gearbox specialists and am still none the wiser, so I thought i'd see what oils you guys use in your gearboxes/axle on your old Fords. Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
I've got 85/140 gear oil in mine. Mind you, the 'box wines a bit! I think they generally say to try and get straight 140 weight oil if possible, but you'll never find ONE answer that EVERYONE agrees on.
Oh, and mine is a bit clunky until it all warms up a bit, although yours should have better synchros than my '37-style ones.

i used the same oil as andy 85/140, never had any problems, box seemed OK, no clunking etc.
I use straight EP140 in my axle, EP80-90 in my box and straight 50W in my engine
But thats just me :-)
