Great shots, some well known cars here.

What I find amazing about this picture is the fact that we DONT have car shows with any organisation like this anymore, or a club that specifies where cars should park.... Its all in the picture

15 Tri Chevy's parked in a line is better to see than 15 split up by loads of other cars, the same goes for Rods

There are shows still that "segregate" cars, Bromley Pageant for one, Ravenswood School for another.

The problem with this is that it's extremely difficult to organise, requires more "bodies" to help & means usually there are vacant spaces everywhere.

I think most people prefer the mixed layout as most shows are this way.

Car shows don't organise displays like this..... owners and enthusiasts do.

Still happens every year at the Rally of the Giants.

You beat me to it there WagonMan, it is indeed Steve Cross's Firebird,
also pictured is the late great Mick Cook's Camaro. I think Pete Carter painted Steve's, Mick of course did his own.

The Tri-Chevys were well organised for one reason-Bob Holland 1,he was brilliant at
organising everyone,he produced a great club mag, sent out letters prior to all big gatherings,(ususally with ahand drawn "bow-tie" around your name/add.on the envelope)so you knew where what time etc,and i know there were others on the commitee, but Bob 1 was a diamond

Yes Kieth I recognise her, it's me that I don't recognise LOL. Fabulous photos of some top cars and people. I had forgot that my '57 had a wagon rear bumper, it looks OK.

Great pics - I was there in 'civvies' as I didn't have a suitable car then. The '55 in the first photo is now Green Onions. I remember when Ray said he was going to paint it bright green - my how we laughed, and then really tried to persuade him to repaint it orange (it was black when he bought it from Ron France).

Love those 70s paintjobs
Mick Cookes Camaro and The Victor was what the custom scene was all about .
Its a real shame that there is so little talent and the willingness to be so radical today .Yes i know there is some great cars being built but two generations have missed building these sort of cars and instead buy a ready hot hatch with a bodykit !

You can say that again Bry , if it wasn't for Bob I don't think anything would ever have got organised . Good old Vinyl Lionel

I'm with you there Rog , I didn't realise I was in the photo until Michele pointed it out even then the only way I recognised myself was from the tear in the sleeve of my sheepskin lol ... you better send me some of those tablets .

I chose out of the two, and decided on Carls 56 even tho I didn`t know who he was at the time! It is a lovely car. Yes Rog it is very difficult. But you have to keep smiling!!:) Val xx
