I only ever seemed to go there when it was dark!

I remember the yellow 58 Impala coupe (sadly now broken up after being rolled by Mick Gould) - it looked absolutely mint original!

I the 56 was in Charlies back garden not his yard. Joe Crabtree had this car since 1979/80 only just sold it2 years ago i think. Was my favorite 56. Charlie Pinion drove it a long way across the USA to get it home. At one time he hads to put studded tires on it because the weather was so bad. The other pics are in yard 1979/8 The black 57 is still around today seen it a few times. It was there to be rechassised. We were all on our way to Heston after Chelsea Cruise mid winter he slid on the ice and hit something bent front badly. Charlie had a spare chassis so it whent back on that. A another favorite o Great custom uphostery. 57 big block Nomad behind.

Yep ! Thats the name Ron. Andy Hart could not think of it. I think i went around his house in Harrow when i needed front sheet metal for my Nomad. He had a whole front all bolted together. I think he may have got it from the late Tony Dickson long time ago now. Here it is at Supernats 2008.

Micky hammond got his 55 which was orange from Charles, the yellow 58 was very nice, the new owner accidentally locked the keys in the trunk one day couldn't figure how to take the back seat out so he cut a hole though it (like you would), cant remember his name, Andy's 57 was also nice, didn't they get a lot of there cars from Oregon. one of those clean-up the smokers kind of thing

DLT5T was an all time favourite of mine, didn't the chassis get bent ? seem to remember Charles Pinion saying that when they stripped it out they found a flick knife under the rear seat .

The '55 low rider was bought by Dave Young down in Roply Hants who put the big block with a marine 6:71 in but sold it before it was finished to Tracie Chantry who finished it fitting a Whybasto sunroof and sold it on to ....was it Sweden ?? and I'm sure Ray also bought the big block Nomad as well.

I'm pretty sure that coupe was to become my first 57 in 1980 Steve , KLP 784V . Was a super clean all original 6 cylinder car with just some wear on the front seat , last time I saw it it had had full pro street job done and was painted black .

That's the earliest picture I've ever seen of my old F100 Panel, I was the second owner in the UK after Real Steel imported it, I wish the first owner had left the slot mags on it!

So anybody know how many cars Real Steel brought in and what was the breakdown ie. how many '55's, 56's, '57's etc? Also it looks like the F100 is the only non chevy, but I'm sure they brought in a couple of rods too didn't they?

I agree about the CC give-away '56, the spinner caps, er, give it away.

LPoB, they brought in a sunning peach and white 56 Mercury coupe and a 59 Edsel convertible too. I'm sure there were others...

Great pic Steve. My 57 was first sold to AndyHarts cousin (Robert Wilson)he only had it a couple of months and lost interest in it , Then dumped it back at Real Steels and told Charlie to sell it.In the mean time Charlie had just returned from a usa shopping trip and he told me he had been unsuccessful in locating a car for me at the right price, but he had just had one returned which he said i should buy and thats what I did as soon as I saw Her (in the dark)!

The Emergency Brake warning lamp was an option used mainly on Taxi Cabs. I've still got one, picked it up at the CCCI in New Orleans. Beautiful car Ron, It's rare to see a car still with it's six cylinder trunk badge.

Yep, guilty as charged. Me, my wife and Mark Fullard (331Hemi on here) are all in those shots, along with Steve Gonsalves, the owner of the car. Steve bought it with Cragars and the straight six but it was already black when he got it. Steve did the pro street conversion and fitted a big block. He currently has a very quick big block 55, also in black. The 57 is now the metallic lilac one that runs in the Street Eliminator.

I don't think so! It was a Dusk Rose one that I think a girl down Swindon way had!

If memory serves, there is a darkish metallic blue BA 4D SDN that was ex: Dean Amos and Howard Cox, it had a factory padded dash and PB - I'm pretty sure that had a handbrake light in it!

...personally, I drive Cadillac's as they ALL have a handbrake warning light!!! :D :D :D

Steve made a great car out of it, I first saw it and Steve at Reg Chatwins in Brum When I was racing the old Red Devil '69 Nova. Reg had a 15X15 wheel on a table the first one I had seen, I was very impressed and I think so was Reg (quite a character).

Years ago, soon after I'd bought my 57 2 dr post, I asked Bob Holland if he knew anything about it. I'm fairly certain that it was he who told me me that it had been brought in by Real Steel in 1979 (hence its final V reg). It originated from Oregon and, because of its Muncie and 4.56 gearing, was used to haul the two other 57s on a trailer to whichever port they were 'emigrating' from. When it arrived it had an all out 283 which expired soon after (maybe as a result of its towing duties?). By the time I bought it for the princely sum of £2200 in 1982 little appeared to have changed except for the fairly boggo 283 that was then fitted and a lack of chrome on the Appliance wheels. I kept it until 1996.

Incidentally, when I got it it had a Spirit of the Fifties sticker in the rear screen. Anyone remember it?

Ian
