Seen them!

The chopped one will not be accepted by the hillclimb scutineers as the driver would be hard to get out in the event of a crash!
Talked the whole thing through with the wife (boss/finance director/judge/jury) who is not too sure about my patience to build thid idea...more work yet to do!

Hi Graham ,be sure to remember to move the rear axle back a little from stock ,to line it up in the rear arch so extending the wheelbase, you may well know this but i wondered if you might be building the chassis before getting a shell and want to avert a hiccup.

Thanks for the heads-up Captain.

Before surgery I would certainly plant the shell/wings/front on the chassis to align it all.
Absolutly nothing worse than wheel arches 'out' for the look.

hi
don't no if this is of any use to you , it's a real blast from the past ,used for saloon car racing, but i guess the setup would be at home on a hillclimb

Ah...found most of that and the links to your Thames, but not the article. This car would have been just the ticket and is really behind my thinking for the project started last year for a mix of Rod and hillclimber.

This car did me no good at all when seen at Shelsley Walsh:

Looks even better in CC!
Simply the best Hot Rod I have ever seen.

i have to agree that is a very cool rod I saw it close up at the HRD's last September it was parked next to the Capitan's pop , classic :)

it's a great shame that berpop's time was so short lived,as from what i can gather form Geoff, if thing's had been different the beast would have evolved into a real monster, with the plans he had in mind.
I've been in contact Geoff Kremer over the past few months ,and I'm slowing finding out more about the beast and thamsey, the concept's behind the two cars, which were polls apart, and the difficulty's of the builds etc
so hopefully when it 's all together I'll post it up on the forum ,

I will certainly look foreward to thst lot. Some of my thoughts were a Dax V8 to give me an instant chassis/suspension and all that. You can get them on Piston heads for £9/10K all running etc.

Money, but it is all essentially done and working.

Must think of a better way to persuade the wife this is a Good Idea.

um, dax rush , get yourself a light weight sectioned plastic pop shell and a cage, weigh the hole thing in at 600kg'ish with a fully race dry sumped rover v8 say 300+bhp and you got near 600 bhp per ton that better than a Bugatti Veyron’s 521bhp/tonne:eek:
you won't need a hill to climb , cos that'll just fly :D:D:D:D
