must admit i aint sure either, but just ad a thoght do you reckon it could be a way of holding bonnet up instead of the bonnet stay's on the front? as the bonnet has no rings for the bonnet bars & no loops on the grill.(may be a commercial thing)

I'd certainly guess at bonnet locators?

I'd guess bonnet stay. Not all grills had the tags to hold the stays did they? I thought that was something else that got removed from the Anglia - Pop stage.

well just found a pic i took age's ago when the front panels were on & never gave a thought of trying the brackets to see if they hold the bonnet sides up,but still not convinced they will hold (judge for yourselfs)

I`m sure they`re hood props Lee. The shorter `leg` hooks under the centre lip holding it in place, and the longer `leg` then supports the weight of the hood.
The hoods weight holds it all in place when propped open.

If that's the original hood, you might find witness marks on it where the prop has been used before

With a 'ickle' bit of phototrickery, you can see how it would work.

Quite an innovative bit of inginuity very clever.
