Tim use flapper disc their easier on the surface and don't leave great indents marks on the surface mate
40 ,course ,60 mid course then 80 grit I use the 60 there about right mate just advise mate
Yes tim they are easier on the steel but do the same job and will move better over body contours etc medium grit 60 pr the 80 are fine and with some practice leave a polished finish if required .
hope this helps mate
They are also safer than a disc in many cases will puts some photos up soon
Excellent work indeed Tim. Hats off to you...
Finally got a bit more time on the rear quarter, firstly I marked out the number plate recess.
Then it was off to the shed to sort out the infill plate, starting with a bit of 18 gauge Zintec.
Then on to the press…
Didn’t have any segmented tooling so I used a bit of 6mm plate.
Now I’m back to the Pop and chopping out the valance, I know I put that bit in earlier but it’s good practice.
And tacking in the recess plate
Fully welded.
And a lick with the grinder, with the “Flapper disk” Wade.
I’m now at a point where I’m going to roller a drop of Epoxy primer on the back to protect it so I got a few bits out of the car and cleaned them up ready for the excess paint.
And out comes the roller.
Couldn’t resist putting it all back together to get the overall look. The boot lid needs panel fitting proper but for now I’m concentrating on getting old rust out and new metal back in, so that will come later at body prep time.
Now working on the inner tool tray boot floor area before incorporating those missing inner arch ends.
That’s it for now, more when I do more.
Cheers. Tim W.
