What a long week-end, still made a bit of hay in the dry shine.
Worked on my side cheeks, got the shape sorted and decided to get a bit more use out of Jenny before she goes back to work.
There she is lightly clamped in place
Then I did the drivers side.
Not much to show for a 4 day week-end but it’s heading in the right direction.
That’s it for now, more when I do more.
Cheers. Tim W.
Hi Tim,
Great progress mate, finishes the bulk head off nice glad to see you found some dry spells,
Looking forward to the update,
Cheers,
Mike C.
Hi Tim,
Nice little details on there, looks great. Also like the way you've kept as much of the original pressing as possible for the bulkhead then 'blend in' the new panels.
Great work. All progress is progress!
Best regards,
Nick.
Hi Tim,
Been lurking in the background. You're doing great work mate, keep it up. Makes me wish I'd had a bead roller handy when I did my firewall.
Zetec powered pop ON THE ROAD!!!
Been managing to get out in the dry spells lately, working on the firewall.
First off I made the repair panel for the chopped out rotten bit in the inner wing
Then I trimmed the firewall so it went between the cheeks, but if you look carefully the firewall come right up to the bead rolling.
So I took an inch off the cheeks and re-shaped them
Then I marked and cut the inner edge of the cheeks.
Next time I’m out I’ll get the welder out and fillet the cuts in the firewall flange, add the Avdels for the tunnel and then it’s all ready to tack in place.
That’s it for now, more when I do more.
Cheers. Tim W.
Great stuff Tim there are benefits to working outside at least you dont have to push the body out the garage when you want to work on the chassis and you have plenty space
is that the factory inlet manifold?? what carb or carbs are you using??
Gary
Thanks Gary, Yeah space isn't a problem mate but sometimes it not as dry as I'd like.
They are Landi ones with a bit of "Cut n Shut" P38 rings a bell, sure someone on here will put us straight. Gonna use the SU's with a modified air intake, if I can afford a cam I may change the needles and springs in them.
Cheers. Tim W.
Hi Tim,
Great work as usual, good luck with the welding and the weather this weekend. Was good to catch up with you at Billing BTW
Cheers,
Mike C.
Managed to get my free time to tie up with the dry time over the week-end.
Got the firewall all finished ready for welding in place.
Then I added the Avdels for trans tunnel fixing.
Was still a bit windy of them turning so I put a couple of tacks on them.
Just need to get the welder round to the Pop and do the inner wing repair and then I can weld the firewall and cheeks in.
More when I do more.
Cheers. Tim W.
another bit done hope you taking them of the list soon be ready to start the body ,hope the weather stay dry for your next instalment
Great work Tim,
Glad you got some good weather, no worries with the breakfast, I like bacon hot and cold
Cheers,
Mike C.
Managed to get a bit of dry free time over the last two week-ends and here’s the result.
Welded the patches on the inner wing.
Then I tacked the side cheeks in place.
And then the fire wall.
I took the engine out so I could fully weld it all and whilst it was a bit lighter I rolled it back so I could sweep up a bit.
Then I just managed to make the infill pieces before it rained, ready for my next dry day.
Just need a few dry hours now!!!!
That’s it for now, more when I do more.
Cheers. Tim W.
