Not much of an update as I’m still struggling for Pop time but have managed to get a bit done on the other wing, looks like I did the best one first…
Based on the rolled edge problems I’ve borrowed “Jenny” from work for a bit.
So I’ll just do it a bit at a time until it done, started with the Mirror and indicator holes.
Cleaned the holes up and clamped the patches in
All welded ready for cleaning at my next outing.
I’ll put some effort into that mounting flange next time I’m out there.
That’s it for now, more when I do more.
Cheers. Tim W.

WellI finally got some dry spare time… I had this to post last week but I up-gradedto Windows 10 (don’t ask) so I’ve had some IT issues to sort!!!
WellI’ve been chopping out some of the old mounting flange and welding inreplacement parts.
Nowthe bottom edge of the wing has seen some re-work over the years and this iswhat’s under the paint
Ican’t make a suitable bead rolled edge to match the existing or have tooling totrap a round bar in either so I’ve come up with an alternative plan. Firstly Icut a piece of 18 gauge Zintec to match the profile.
ThenI rolled a step.
ThenI got a 11 x 6 strip of mild steel and bent it to the wing contour.
ThenI clamped it up and welded it in place.
Next job is to clean it all up and weld it on to the bottom of the wing
That’s it for now, more when I do more.
Cheers.Tim W
That will stiffen the wing up a treat!

John
good to see you doin a bit Tim, nice work
be quiet when you leave.... mr munn lives right around the corner
Got a bit more done, cleaned up the new wing bottom, and the rest of the repairs.
Then I marked out the wing ready for the replacement end
And off it comes
Clamped it on ready for tacking
I got one of the lads at work to press me a new steady strap
So I tacked the wing and welded it on to keep it from going out of shape when I fully weld it.
After cleaning it up I forgot to get a photo so I nipped out to the shed in the rain on Sunday and took this.
Not much more and I’ll be able to paint it and bolt it on!!!!
That’s it for now, more when I do more.
Cheers.Tim W.
