were going to try the old points dizzy in to see if that cures the missfire
    thanks gary and jack

just a little update, and its still kicking my ar$e so weve done some miles and noticed the shifts went a bit weird, fine when its cold, as soon as it got up to temp it refused to reset to 1st gear when coming to a stop, and would set of in 3rd, played about adjusting the throttle valve cable, no change, shift it manually and its fine, kickdown works fine, spoke to the gearbox man and decided to pull the valvebody out, after a strip down and washout, turns out we have a crack in the valvebody so we sourced a new second hand vb, I stripped it and cleaned it, (whilst watching the nostalgias at pod on the web cam, modern technologys a wonderful thing when it works) just got to put it back together, and refit it, hopefully this will cure it so we get on and drive the thing
    fingers crossed an all that

so its been a while since I posted on here, the new s/h vb didn't fix my issue so I parked it in the naughty corner of the garage, and didn't touch it for 3 months, did some more research and decided that I needed to look at the governor which resides in the tailhousing of the box. thought I could get away with doing it with the gearbox in the car, but decided it would be better to just pull the box and fix it on the bench.so we spent the last bank holiday weekend pulling said gearbox, gave the governor a good clean after disassembling it, the tail housing gasket was a bit screwed up too, so made a new one of those while we were in there, put it all back together, and touch wood its all good at the mo, been out in it a few times and shifts are good, kicks down nicely, got a couple of upgrades planned for the winter if I can stop driving it thanks jack for your help with the gearbox re install, its an awkward bugger to get back in for sure
    more soon
    cheers.

i had a runout in the willys today, slowly getting a list of things id like to fettle/fine tune over the winter, one thing is door rubbers, had a play this afternoon with some d shaped foam strip, just double sided taped it to the front half of both doors to see if it makes much difference, will post up the outcome,

so ive had a couple more trips out, my new draft proofing round the doors does work, but I think I need to seal the window to the door top as there is a draft blowing out the doors inside, brrrrr, need to fit the stat in the engine, id forgotten about that, also done some mpg calculations today, got about 15 to the gallon over the weekend, not to bad for 6.3 litres
nice little run up to the gasserville breky meet today
