I broke it again! This time ive lost reverse!

4L80E apparently has a weak spot and reverse band happens to be it!

Did a show last weekend and have another this weekend so i shall be taking the trans out next week to investigate. Should be an easy fix i guess.

On the other hand the truck is doing extremely well, after i previously lifted the heads ive changed the lifters out to new LS7 lifters, LS9 head gaskets to drop the compression down a little and installed head studs.

Ive done just over 200 miles in it so far running at around 20psi boost and have had zero issues. Only issue i could say was terrified passengers with no seat belts! Ive since installed a set of sparco 4 point road harnesses to keep us buckled in haha.

Any how heres some pics from last weeks show...

The show is renowned for their exits! (Closed private road at the organisers farm)

    good save
i have to say if you had a 'diamond' plate over that join to spread the load more it probably wouldn't have split.

Got round to fixing the chassis for short term so i can still use the truck as it is. Boxed in and cracks welded (drilled and Veed beforehand)

Headed out to my first NSRA event The Hot Rod Drags. Got encouraged to to down the strip... as you do. Which was the first time ive had ago at drag racing, however ive grown up on what id refer to as proper tracks such as Silverstone, Catalunya and the likes of.

I soon found that what seems extremely fast on the road is sunday driving slow on the track haha.

Still yet to have the truck dynod and mapped so we struggled off the line due to bogging down from a stand still. But hey ho...

What also came apparent was that people seemed astounded that id built it myself, driven from home (Worcestershire) to the track and gone down the track to then drive home. Is this not what people do?

Any how heres some pictures...Name: 20190905_190220.jpeg

I wondered if you were taking it easy off the line to save the chassis.
Driving to and from track is what I will have to do.....

you need some fillets across the plates for the lower mount - they are too long to be unsupported.

Noo just couldnt get it to launch haha.

Youll be good to know theres some bracing on the opposite side but i have no pictures. Will be building a chassis over winter to cope with the power

You still need a bit of plating across the two 'ears' to tie them together as well.

Its been a while since i updated this thread. Been over a year infact complete with a worldwide disaster

Have since added a 2nd wastegate to help control boost pressure. Also helps with my ocd and symmetry! Complete with Cerakote on the entire system to help keep heat down and look cool!

I ran into more problems with misfiring due to plug leads getting way to hot for their liking. So ive designed some LS coil relocation brackets (which are available to buy) which now means i have the coils mounted under the cab in frame rails.

Whilst doing this i designed a set of Billet aluminium LS valave covers to finish off the engine bay.

Amongst the rest Covid allowed me to focus on what ive always wanted to do and start my own business. Smokeys Speed Shop if anyones interested. Specialising in LS parts and Air Suspension! Name: 20200608_210605.jpeg

the engine bay's finished? how did your ocd let you get away with that convoluted radiator hose and the shiny ally radiator with pretty much everything else in black? just saying

We are back with a few updates since i last posted!

I have recently swapped out the China GT45 with a Garrett G42-1200 turbo. Which has made an amazing difference with power delivery.

Upgraded the wastegates to 2 Turbosmart GenV powergate 60s in the sleeper colour ways along with the new GenV raceport to match.

To go with the turbo ive also installed Turbosmarts OPR40 which is a must have for anyone running a turbo!

Waiting for some dyno time so we can get this properly set up and see what it can do!

All these products are available to purchase from myself. I also have available my old wastegates and blow off valve if anybody is interested in some low mileage turbosmart products!
