Wow thats going to keep you busy for some time..carry on the good work...
Last couple of days have been spent trying to find the bottom of the driver's door A post. It appears have gone awol.
There should be three layers of metal here! Complicated shapes and pain to fit but got there in the end.
That is not a crack in pic 2 there is a deep recess which neatly lent it self to a bit of reinforcement. Pic 3 shows the finished article before being cleaned up.

The bonnet never lined up properly. It was always too high. Dave Greenfield advised me the front needed lifting and the hinges needed to go down.
Easy......the removal of the hinges showed horrible chewed out holes and some new ones, someone had decided to go for a smooth firewall but first gripfil the panel in place and then weld round it. Hence the hinges could not be bolted in their original position. Options? none do it properly.
The smooth fire wall had a 3/16" gap from the original as it was just laid on the top.
Lots of chain drilling, cursing, levering and yet more grinding.
Finally removed it was obvious the original could not be salvaged. So sections were removed.
and thanks to Paul Barrow new panels were "ribbed"for extra satisfaction to a design Carol came up with.
Welded in another bit was cut out and the flange prepped for the top panel.
Thanks again Paul. Bit (read lot) and that was also beaten/welded in
A few lumps and bumps to iron out and then fill but I think it's come out quite well.

Exceeded attachment limit so here is the almost finished article.
Not bad for the cost of metal and a bag of doughnuts for a few helping friends!

Who cares If It's glass or steel, It's still a hot rod.
So as to not confuse people. In the first para I should have said hinge action needs to go down but in order to achieve this you have to relocate the hinge base plate upwards. Later on in build though, need a rest!

Excellent work.
Layabout.
Lots of silly bits being done where I didn't finish welding/got bored etc.
More rust. And generally getting ready for the body to go for media blasting on Monday
More rust so well disguised I thought the off side post was OK. Decided to tackle the offside rear wheel arch before Monday shouldn't take long, grider packs up, gas runs out you name it.
Even struggling to weld properly.
Not much wrong with it.
Then suddenly it's the weekend and I decide not to take time off for the Swapmeet. Luckily Kieron and Gary offered their help and early Sunday evening UK Grieffti II was ready to go.
Thanks guys and Carol for the cups of tea.
What's next?

I hope you're well puckered for and set up for more work following the blasting! I recall there being serious issues in the gutter areas and it seems whatever work that was done for the grey paintjob wasn't destined to last long, but the gutter areas seem ok. You're a lot braver than me!
Chris
Bumper sticker - This is an historic vehicle and only has three speeds....... if you don't like this one you sure as hell won't like the others.
Nice blokes at the blasters Whiff, they did the chassis for my Roadster, & some body panels.
Who cares If It's glass or steel, It's still a hot rod.
Prepping the chassis was becoming a right mare, it is now so heavy I can't turn it over by myself. What I needed was a rotisery. Ned (Gary Davis) then had a brainstorm "Would two engine stands work" Few mods ,long bolts and YES!
