    Gt Yarmouth Wheels Festival

Went on Sunday and it was way bigger than I expected, held along the sea front there were hundreds of bikes and cars, some of interest to us some not quite so. The low rider club put on a show of dancing cars (even the Honda Civic looked cool as did the Boxter!) there was the wall of death and a trial rider exhibition. The Scooter Club had Northern Soul and Reggae DJ playing all day and the local radio staion had the main stage with live and recorded music, it's well worth a visit.
The biggest and best appearance was by the NSRA, 2 Huge tents full of cars and a queue all day to get in with Andy and Nipper in attendance talking to punters all day long. TBH they out did all the other clubs there and there were a good few OK they may have had more cars but the presentaion and quality of the rods outshone them any day of the week. 3 rods left the festival early and the crowds had to be held back to let them out with one car leaving in a traditional, very smokey manner to the crowds appreication. TBH without our appearance the festival would have been OK but the punters wanted to see hot rods just like on the TV and that was obvious by the number of people going through the NSRA exhibition.
So I know the Fun Run didn't really work on the race course as it wasn't an ideal venue and the cruise out on Saturday basically caused gridlock as well as taking everyone off the site to the annoyance of the traders. Sat is a change over day for holiday makers so lots of cars and caravans in our way (how dare they..LOL) and, lets get real the road infrastructure in North Norfolk isn't made for big ass yank motors, too many narrow roads...... but, and that is a huge "BUT" the local council are very keen in supporting this sort of event financially as it brings people in, in the case of the Wheels Festival it was a forking lot of people. It may be an idea to link the festival to one of our events or even have a new run to the festival. No organised camping (there's lots of accomodation and camp sites anyway) no showfield, no entry fees, no Supernats 2, no Fun run 2 just something totally different.

Yeah, great weekend and Yarmouth was packed!! Huge thanks to NSRA and all that made it happen, I believe Darren Layfield was a big driving force! Saturday saw drizzle in the afternoon with a reported turnout of 15,000 motorbikes? but the crowds still turned outName: IMG_20190707_110043-01.jpeg

It was a great venue and cool place to hold the fun run,I went both years and enjoyed them, think it was pretty well supported but the cruise took everyone away for the day and Yarmouth also has so much else to offer for all ages where as people are normally on site

The Fun Run didn't work in the format it's been for years in Yarmo, the cruise on sat simply took all the cars and the people off the show field and put them on the sea front where all the Sunday punters had a good look so didn't come on Sunday. Yarmo Council are really keen for us to be involved with us because we're a big tourist draw and they know it. As I said in the original post, maybe a different event, supported by the NSRA linked to the Wheels Festival could be the answer, no show field, no organised camping or accomodation, no NSRA entertainment.... just pitch up Sat, dump your shirt (see what I did there) and hit the sea front and cruise, go and explore the countryside (it's real nice), Sat night cruise the sea front, have some food etc maybe a few beers (designated driver obvs) Sunday hit the sea front for the main show day.... Sunday late afternoon, pack up your shirt and Fork off home (Yeah... did it again!)
