I've only ever heard of epoxy primer going onto bare metal. It's recommended as it has rust inhibitors in it. Best bet would be to try it on an small panel and see if it reacts ?

It also sticks like excrement to a bedding item, you would be losing that property as well.

Hi
Epoxy primer refers to sealer that is a non-porous finish. It is primarily recommended as the first base coat over bare steel. These base coats or epoxy primers can be used over fiberglass, plastic or the black iron phosphate coating. This primer can also be used on cracks and dents. Its bonding capacity is excellent and produces a good surface finish. Epoxy primers not only offer excellent adhesion to metals, but also serve as a proper base for extra undercoat products and top coats. Suitable for all metal substrates as galvanized, stainless, aluminium, bare metal and OEM (E-COAT). It has anti corrosive properties, excellent coverage and can be painted with all paint systems.
Hope this helps

Second all that. You will get no real benefit of epoxy if you apply it over something’s other than clean steel
