    gearbox ID

I'm trying to identify a gearbox, it is fitted to my 3.5 rover V8 and I was told it was a LT77, however I have found the drain plug (want to do an oil change) but I can't see where it can be filled, there is no filler plug as per LT77 all there is, is a plastic box on the top which clips onto a small boss on the top of the gearbox which has a small hole (vent?) and a slot either side which a large screwdriver could be used to take out the plug. Could this be the filler plug? if so which oil should I use and how much the LT77 uses ATF so would I be right in assuming this box will use the same oil.
It has the number 17A06196 stamped on it and a Leyland logo cast in the side. I have tried vrious sites to try and discover the identity but to no avail. just to mention it is a five speed + reverse.
I hope someone can help me with this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Nige

ATF is no longer recommended for LT77 boxes. It caused a lot of wear issues and was only specified because of poor gear changes when cold.
Current thinking is a fully synthetic such as Redline MTL .
