    Cool Lou's Willys Build Thread

Ive made a start on lou's new car, very early days so not much to show yet.
It won't be anything flash, just a basic car designed to go fast.
After alot of measuring and trimming away glass that's not needed this is where i'm at.

it's really hard to think ahead doing this stuff,
The outriggers are designed to support the cage at the A and B posts and the plan is to support the hinges and catches off the cage.
The floor will be flat ally, hence making the frame and sill sit level.

If a Scaremonger makes say 50 statements about a certain subject and some but not all eventually come true does that mean they have the power to predict ?? or just Scaremonger ??

yeh, trouble is it wont tag on 40mm box as cage has to sit on 50mm box to tag, i was going to make this chassis a template for a 50mm box chassis but i'll probably stick with it, i'm not overly concerned about the tag as long as the cage itself is good.

cheers dude, its kinda weird building another car i'll never drive, but it does mean i dont get any moaning or nagging like most husbands do.
I told lou before i started that she gets NO imput into how this car looks and that she only has to drive it !! , well that didnt last long as she's already steering it her way lol.

    bit of an update,
had to work a bit today so didn't get down the shed till about 3pm, got this bit done by 5.30 and called in for tea.......
I was gonna go to B&Q and get some 3x2 timber for mock up but i couldn't face the place on a saturday, so i cut some 80mm strips out of a bit of ply.
I find it quite hard to visualize what i want sometimes and this helps, especially on working out the angles.

    first blood today too............

going back down the shed now.........

liking the use of the wood jig, what did yo use to cut the steel angles look spot on

I stand corrected (Templates it is)

missed this pic earlier, i guesstimated the height first, then held my coilover in place to finalise the height i wanted.
I took the angle off the timberplates ( ha new word! ) using an adjustable protractor, was 60 degrees, then transferred to steel, all cuts done with a 1mm disc in an angle grinder.
