Celebrations and Programme of Events

Welcome to the new website section for the club’s 50th anniversary celebrations.

The 50th anniversary working group, who are Sue Ayres, Dave Biggadyke, Dave Brown, Mick Harle, Lee ‘Pikko’ Picton, and Hannah Thomas, are working hard behind the scenes bringing ideas and assisting the Committee to coordinate the club’s celebrations and programme of events to mark the occasion.

The Committee and working group will keep you updated here, and of course, via the club’s traditional form of membership communication, Street Gasser Magazine.

Happy 50th birthday to the NSRA!!

It is a privilege to be sharing this milestone with you and helping the Committee to plan the club’s 50th anniversary celebrations. We hope that we will do the 50th anniversary the justice it deserves, honouring the past, present, and future of all the awesome things that make the NSRA what is it. Speaking of awesome things, we can now reveal one of the anniversary membership gifts… keep reading to find out more.

Anniversary Edition of Street Gasser

Firstly, the Committee and 50th anniversary working group would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Nick Brooke-Langham for bringing us this brilliant bumper anniversary edition of Street Gasser. A big thank you also goes to Dylan Jeavons who works alongside Nick to produce our high-quality club magazine. We know that Nick has been working on this anniversary issue for months now and we are grateful for the time and effort Nick has put into updating this next chapter of the NSRA’s history. We’d also like to extend a thank you to all those who have been an editor or contributors to the NSRA’s Street Gasser magazine over the years.

Members Calendar

The golden anniversary celebrations have already started with the special edition of the annual member’s calendar, received with your December issue of Street Gasser. Another huge thank you to everyone who took the time to submit photos, as always it is greatly appreciated. This keepsake edition is full of cars that have inspired and influenced you over the years, and the mix of nostalgic and recent images work so well together. Very reminiscent of an NSRA show field don’t you agree! Once the year is over, maybe your favourite pages will make it up on your garage wall?

If you’d like to buy an additional copy, email Richard Black, Membership Secretary, as he has a few print overruns for sale.

Membership Sticker

If you’ve renewed your membership within the last two months, then you will have received a 50th anniversary membership sticker. Please do share a photo of the sticker proudly displayed on your windscreen, tagging #nsra50years. This anniversary hashtag will help build a gallery of how we all celebrated the NSRA’s BIG anniversary. Perhaps the 2023 members calendar will feature photos from this year’s celebrations…

Spring Rumble

Fun, informal driving days taking place in several regions around the country on various weekend dates throughout May 2022. Open to all NSRA members plus invited friends with pre-1972 hotrods, street rods, and custom cars.

You can view the latest list of the confirmed dates, regions and organisers on the Spring Rumble event page.

Special Anniversary Displays

You’ll have read in December’s update that several special anniversary displays are being organised. We are hoping to bring together as many past Participants’ Choice winners as possible from the NSRA Fun Run and NSRA Hot Rod Supernationals, as well as a display of Cars of Significance from the past 50 years. Many of the owners of these rods have already been contacted, however, there are a few vehicles that we have yet to locate. If you have a vehicle that has previously won Participants’ Choice at the Fun Run or Supernationals, or you know the whereabouts of a car, please get in touch at email hidden; JavaScript is required.

The other exciting displays planned for the year are being coordinated by some of our rodding friends. The re-launch of the T Party is being organised by Maurice Takoor, and the Pop Festival is being brought back to life by Keith Elliott in conjunction with Popstalgia. A unique display of Jagos is being coordinated, and a display to mark the 90th anniversary of the ’32 Ford is being planned. We are all really excited about these displays! If you can help these guys in any way by showing your vehicle or with leads for finding historic cars, again, please let us know.

UK Rodding Memorabilia

50 years is a long time… that’s a hell of a lot of NSRA event T shirts, membership cards, Gasser magazines, dash plaques, pin badges, and other random paraphernalia. It’s a well-known fact that hotrodders don’t like to throw anything away so if you have kept any of the above, or other interesting UK rodding memorabilia, we’d love to hear from you about arranging a display of all these items. Perhaps we will arrange a prize for the most obscure item you’ve kept!

50th Anniversary Members T Shirt

Finally, we can now share the news that there will be a member’s only 50th anniversary T shirt. This one-off design is going to be kept a closely guarded secret for now, but we think you’ll like it! The T shirt will be available from April or May, and details on how you can get your hands on one will follow soon.

That’s all for now. There’s still more to share with you, but you’ll just have to wait to find out! Until then, if you want to get in touch with the 50th anniversary working group then send us an email at email hidden; JavaScript is required.
