As you will see in the AGM minutes in the upcoming issue of Street Gasser, the NSRA have a **NEW** event.
We all love the NSRA shows but we want to provide another opportunity for members to get out and drive their vehicles outside of a show environment. At the end of the day, the reason why we are all reading this and so passionate is because of the cars, and our love for our hobby.
So, we are organising an NSRA Spring Cruise. Getting out and about. Not only taking in local scenery but enjoying a day out with existing friends and meeting new rodders within your region.
The initial plan would be a starting point to meet, then a few hours cruise with instructions, finishing a destination point. This will be a nation-wide event, taking place in regions around the country all on the same weekend. The weekend we have ear marked is the 4 & 5 April 2020.
Here’s where you come in… we would like representatives, either an individual or a group, in each region to coordinate and plan their routes, reach out to local members and help us make the event successful. For example, Glyn Thomas, Tim Horsfall and myself are planning the route and the day for the Sussex region; speak to some of the clubs in our region to get them to come along. In fact, we already have our starting point planned and an idea of the route!
We think it would be really cool for this nationwide event to take place on the same date across the country. Each region can decide which day to host their Spring Cruise, the Saturday or the Sunday, as well as being up to the region coordinator whether they want to add in treasure hunts, quizzes etc.The starting points and destinations don’t need to be anywhere particularly glamorous as the focus is on the driving, just ample enough car parking facilities available.
We would however, like each region to participate in social interaction with us that weekend to boost the profile of the club and of course take photos for a fab event report.
The benefit of this event would be that NSRA members can get involved in an event in their region, giving members in South West, Wales, Scotland for example, and all the areas in between somewhere to meet people in their area. This is a real opportunity for NSRA members to get involved with an NSRA lead event in their area.
As a way to encourage non-members to join the club, it will be a ‘bring a friend day’. If you have a friend who’s got a pre-72 rod or custom who isn’t an NSRA member, encourage them to come along and hopefully get them to join the club. So long as your region coordinator knows expected numbers in advance.
The NSRA Committee will be here to oversee the event and provide all the relevant promotion and communication required. We appreciate that this whole proposal will put extra pressure on us as we already have limited time, but we would hope that members will want to get involved and work with us. Without your support, we can’t run this event. Once we have the region coordinators in place, we can publicise the event.
Finally, we are working on an event sticker! Who reading this doesn’t love an event sticker? So we plan to give each participant an NSRA Spring Cruise window sticker so they can show off all year that they took part in this nationwide event and spread the word further for us.
